Physiotherapy

Physiotherapy is a form of health care that uses physical approaches (ie. stretching, strengthening, hands-on techniques, taping, etc.), education, and modalities (i.e. Acupuncture, heat, ultrasound, etc.) to promote, maintain and restore physical, psychological and social well-being, taking into account all variations in health status.

Acupuncture

Acupuncture is a modality in physical therapy wherein the physical stimulus of the acupuncture needle being inserted into the body has a therapeutic effect. Stimulation of acupuncture points has an effect on all of the associated neurophysiological structures in the area of insertion, and can also have systemic effects. The therapeutic goals of acupuncture are to manage pain, resolve inflammation, and accelerate healing, which can be applied to a wide variety of orthopedic conditions.

Medico Legal Reporting

At Gems Physio Clinic we conduct Medico Legal assessments and prepare Medico legal reports for solicitors and insurance companies for musculoskeletal injuries that have been sustained via a wide range of accidents.

We are a team of highly experienced HPC/CSP/AACP registered physiotherapists who deal with musculoskeletal problems on a daily basis. Additionally, we are very accustomed to the specific assessments of whiplash type injuries and other musculoskeletal injuries sustained in road traffic accidents. We are members of the Medicolegal Association of Chartered Physiotherapists and have a sound understanding of the medicolegal process.

We have a prompt and efficient booking process and will always offer an appointment within first 48 hours. Additionally, we will always meet guidelines from instructing solicitors and will return reports well within the timeframes assigned.

Corporate Visits

In today`s work place, with long hours and days and constant deadlines to meet then it comes as no surprise that your staff may often have headaches, back aches... the list is endless and usually resulting in them taking sick days.

Here at Gems Physio Clinic, we can help to reduce these high stress levels which impact on employee productivity, morale and attendance in a very negative way. The on-site service which we offer can help address high stress levels in the workplace we can send a team of highly qualified therapists to your work place.

We can address some issues suffered by your employees, leaving them ready and able to give their full attention to work, by increasing their efficiency and drive. The minimum booking would be a 2 hour slot which can be tailor made to suit your budget and requirements. This would be an excellent staff incentive.

Vinay

Vinay is a state registered physiotherapist who graduated from Kasturba Medical College Hospital, Mangalore, India in 2004. Following that he worked at Bombay Hospital in a multidisciplinary setting mainly responsible for treating patients with severe neuromuscular dysfunctions. In 2007 Vinay decided to pursue his professional career by specialising in neuro-musculoskeletal dysfunction. He specialised his studies in Neuro-musculoskeletal Physiotherapy at Sheffield Hallam University, Sheffield in 2008.

After finishing his MSc from Sheffield Hallam, Vinay relocated to Manchester and began working at Care UK (NHS) as Musculoskeletal Physiotherapist. Currently he combines his work at Care UK (NHS) with Gems Physio Clinic. Vinay is also trained in Injection Therapy and Acupuncture. He has a Diploma in Injection Therapy from University of Central Lancashire, Preston and 80 hours Foundation course in Acupuncture from Acupuncture Association of Charted Physiotherapist (AACP).

Vinay has a special research interest and has presented a paper on effect of Diaphragmatic Breathing Cycle on pre-hypertensive patients which has been awarded as best paper in IAP Conference 2007. Vinay's individualized physiotherapy treatment programs include manual therapy, therapeutic exercises, acupuncture and education. His goal is to assist patients in attaining their maximal functional potential and to be independent with a home exercise program. Vinay enjoys participating in continuing professional development courses in order to keep his skill updated with new treatment approaches and exercises.

Vinay is multi-lingual, speaking Hindi, Urdu, Gujarati, Punjabi, Rajasthani and English.
